Should I get dermal fillers?

Should I get dermal fillers?

Today, I will address what dermal fillers are, what they are used for, longevity, and why you might want to consider adding them for an instant, more youthful appearance or for lip restoration or lip volume addition.

First, many of the most used dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid based fillers.  These are one of the safest types of fillers used as removal is easily accomplished if needed, while other types of fillers cannot be removed or dissolved readily.   Juvederm is a long-standing dermal filler line that produces great products and usually the choice I prefer for most.

Dermal fillers are used to add volume, decrease lines and wrinkles, and can also be used to change the shape of areas of the body, such as the nose, jawline, chin, or lips.  Adults can quickly change aspects they would like to improve, enhance, or modify with immediate, long-lasting results.

For those who are in early adulthood, the most common areas for fillers are the lips for additional fullness or balance of the lips.  And, no, you don’t have to come out looking over-filled with these.  Lips can be done subtly or more dramatic.   This is why it's important to talk to your provider and see an expert for placement.   In addition to lips, adding volume to the cheeks, providing a stronger jawline, increasing chin size with small chins, and nose reshaping are a beautifully minimally invasive way to make changes without cosmetic surgery.

For those who are in the mid-thirties or older, volume of the face begins to be lost almost everywhere due to bone loss, muscle loss, and fat pad changes.  This creates a change in face-shape, decreased skin tone, increased lines and wrinkles, less definition in the jawline, and decreased lip volume leading to thin, wrinkled/lined lips and mouth area.  In addition, the same changes may be sought after in this age group for chin size, nose reshaping, etc.

Juvederm dermal fillers, depending on type used and placement, may last up to 12 to 24 months with optimal improvement.  Areas of more movement and/or less volume placed may reduce more quickly.

If you like to see results quickly, then this is a great treatment to include in becoming a more beautiful you.  In addition, it’s rare for someone to even know you’ve had anything done, unless this was intentional.  You will look more refreshed, healthier, smoother, younger, with more balance of your features.

Common areas dermal fillers are used:

  • Cheeks
  • Tear Troughs (under the eyes)
  • Nasolabial Folds (folds from the corner of the nose to sides of the mouth)
  • Cheek hollows
  • Marionette lines (folds/lines from the edge of the mouth down)
  • Lips and lip lines
  • Jawline
  • Nose
  • Chin
