IPL Skin Rejuvenation

If you want a quick treatment that is effective with little to no downtime, the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Skin Rejuvenation treatment is right for you. This light treatment will improve fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production, decrease irregular pigment in the skin like age spots and freckling or sun spots, and reduce and improve redness and dilated capillaries or red spots from rosacea or other damage. This IPL system is safe for all skin types.

Questions and Answers

How long does the IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatment take?

The face and neck takes about 30-45 minutes per treatment.

When will I see results?

Each person is different, but you may start to see results after the first treatment. More dramatic results take time, particularly for lines and wrinkles due to the need for new cells to regenerate, however, it won’t be long before you are seeing these results as well. Photos are taken before each treatment session begins to view the changes that are occurring. Dilated capillaries will begin to get smaller and less red, pigment will become more even, and lines and wrinkles will lessen.

How many IPL treatments will I need?

You are an individual and will respond differently than another person, but on average, it will likely take 4-6 treatments, then maintenance will be required every 3-6 months for best results. Some require more. Dr. Twigg will give you recommendations based on your exam. Sun exposure can compromise results and cause burns, so this cannot be done.  Sunscreen use throughout is required.

How far apart are initial IPL treatments?

2-4 weeks apart.

What does IPL Skin Rejuvenation feel like?

The Viora IPL has a contact cooling system that provides cooling before, during and after each pulse. The pulse feels like a warm/hot rubber band snap, then you feel the cooling again afterwards. It is quite tolerable.

Do I need to be doing anything else during IPL treatment?

I often have recommended certain skin care products as well as started you on a retinoid and skin lightening agent(s) before treatment for the best results. In addition, I will continue to recommend and see you after we have achieved your treatment goals so you continue to have the best skin you can.
