Salicylic Acid Chemical Peels

If you suffer from acne and dark pigment marks from acne called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a salicyclic acid peel could work for you. The salicylic acid chemical peel regulates sebum production, loosening the “glue” between dead cells for better exfoliation, clearing stubborn acne, lightening discoloration, and evening skin tone. Other hyperpigmentation skin disorders can also be treated using a salicylic peel.

Questions and Answers:

How many Salicylic Acid peels will I need?

Like most light chemical peels, 6-8 peels are typically recommended for successful results. These are typically done every 2 weeks. Thereafter, maintenance treatments are recommended every 4-8 weeks.

What does a Salicylic Acid peel feel like?

You will first undergo a diamond-tip microdermabrasion to smooth the epidermal surface, so you will have a very even chemical peel absorption. Once this is completed, the chemical peeling agent is applied to the skin. This will cause some stinging to occur. You will hold a fan close to the skin for comfort. As this chemical peel dries, the stinging stops. Multiple layers of the chemical peel may be applied to achieve the desired results.

Can I avoid using other skincare products to help my skin heal post-treatment?

The products that are recommended for you will improve your healing and skin treatment goals. In addition, you may not get the results you desire if you continue to use products that are possibly harming your skin. You need to be fully committed to improving your skin, both with professional treatments in the office, and at home with our medical-grade highly concentrated skin care products.
