NovaThreads PDO Thread Lift, Mesh and Twists

Would you like your skin to be tighter and fresher? Do you want a smoother jawline and neckline? Would you like to see your cheeks lifted higher? If you just need a little bit of lift and aren’t ready for a true face lift, this may be just right for you. This in-office procedure gives a more youthful appearance to your face and neck without going through an extensive surgical experience and weeks of recovery. In addition, these threads can be used in other locations besides the face and neck such as the décolleté, upper arms, thighs, buttocks, virtually most locations to smooth and lift or to stimulate collagen production.

These PDO threads are an absorbable surgical suture implanted in the body. These sutures are fully absorbable by the body within 4-6 months, some absorb sooner, although the results will continue to be present well beyond that time.

The “Lift” type of PDO threads have barbed-edged threads that attach to the tissue and are used to gently but dramatically reposition the skin and then build new collagen to secure the lift.

Other PDO threads that are smooth are used for the Mesh and are placed beneath the skin to stimulate collagen production. This helps tighten the skin naturally from within by stimulating the body’s natural wound healing processes.

Twist threads look like a coiled thread and can be placed in the skin for added volume such as in the nasolabial fold or in the lip edge and these will also stimulate collagen for a more youthful appearing skin.

PDO threads can be combined with dermal fillers. It’s a wonderful way to get a fast new look. These techniques can be applied to other areas of the body as well, such as the abdomen, breasts, thighs, buttocks, and arms.

Questions and Answers

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on what’s being done, the procedure can take 15 minutes to about 1 hour to complete. This allows time for anesthetic agents to be placed in the skin for comfort.

Am I a good candidate for the Lift procedure?

These are only generalities, however you may be a good candidate between the ages of 30-65 with no prior plastic surgery in the area to be treated. You may have mild to moderate sagging of the tissue you want to have lifted, but usually severe sagging requires surgery to correct. You shouldn’t be taking blood thinners. In addition, you can expect mild to moderate discomfort during and potentially after the procedure during healing. I do make this as comfortable as possible for you during the procedure by applying both topical anesthetic agents and injectable anesthetic agents, however some discomfort may be experienced. If you fit this category, then you may be a good candidate for the procedure and should be evaluated.

Will I see immediate effects?

You will have noticeable effects immediately after your treatment. Maximum effects will occur in 4-6 weeks.

How long do the Lift effects last?

The larger threads used for the Lift last in the skin for 4-6 months after which the body naturally degrades it. During this time, stimulation of new tissue and collagens is occurring to hold your new tissue position and lift. This naturally begins to break down again through the aging process after about 12-15 months. After this time, it is time to do it again. Some may require this to be done sooner due to multiple factors: nutrition, smoking, aging, genetics, stress, environment, photodamage, etc.

What are the most common areas used for the Thread-Lift?

The most common areas to Lift are the Mid-Face (cheek) and Jawline Lifts. An additional area to Lift is the submental area – or under the chin. It is common to use dermal fillers after these are completed to re-volumize the cheek area, fill in the nasolabial folds and smooth the marionette lines, if needed.

What if my skin is really thin? Can I still get the Lift procedure done?

You would need to be evaluated first. You may benefit from several rounds of the Mesh procedure first, placing smooth threads in the tissue to stimulate collagen production to thicken the tissue. If the tissue responds appropriately and becomes thicker with a stronger, thicker dermis, then the Thread-Lift procedure would then be more successful.
