Pro-L 20 Peel
Pro-L 20 Peel--Even if you have a dry skin type, you can do this chemical peel. The Pro-L 20 Peel uses lactic acid for an extremely gentle peel. If you have sensitive skin, including an ethnic skin-type, this is a safe and predictable peptide-infused peel that will brighten and hydrate the skin as it treats sun damage and hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne, and rosacea.
Questions and Answers:
Who can get the Pro-L 20 peel?
This peel is suitable for all skin types, but if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you need to wait to have this done. This is excellent for dry, more sensitive skin types, as lactic acid is hydrating. The copper tripeptides in the peel help firm skin by stimulating DNA and collagen as they soothe skin and minimize inflammation.
How often can I get the Pro-L 20 peel?
Treatments are recommended to be done every 1-2 weeks for best results. Light chemical peel results are best seen when done in a series of 6-8 peels. Dr. Twigg will give her recommendations, as each patient is different, and recommendations are personalized to you. Maintenance chemical peels can help you maintain your skin and should be done every 4-8 weeks.
What areas of the body can a chemical peel be applied?
This chemical peel can be applied to any area of the body that is needed as it is considered a light or superficial chemical peel.
What key ingredients are in the Pro-L 20 peel?
Lactic Acid and Copper tripeptides. Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that helps to break the bonds between cells for easier exfoliation of dead skin cells. Copper tripeptides impart antioxidant and skin calming effects, promote activation of wound healing, and stimulate collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis. This is a great addition to the chemical peeling process to promote faster healing.
What does a chemical peel feel like?
The chemical peeling agent is brushed on the skin after a microdermabrasion is performed. It does sting moderately, but you will hold a fan close to the skin to help with this sensation and it only lasts a few minutes. Once this is completed, it is rinsed off and soothed with other products. Your skin may then feel a little more sensitive and tight for a few hours and may be a bit dry for a couple of days, but the products that you will go home with to continue to use will aid healing.
Can I go to school or work after my Pro-L 20 peel is completed?
Yes, you can go back to school or work. You can immediately apply makeup over the moisturizer and sunscreen if needed to cover any residual pink/redness that may be present. This dissipates over the next few hours. You may have some dryness and peeling may or may not occur. This can happen over the next 2-3 days, but continuing to moisturize and hydrate the skin will minimize this.
